CONTINUOUS STEAM FEATURE |
1. |
Your steam cleaner comes equipped with a power steam trigger. When it is pressed, a continuous stream of steam is produced to make cleaning easy. There is no manual pumping. Please note that steam may continue flowing for up to 15 seconds after you release the trigger. This is normal. |
2. |
This convenient feature may result in some minor "spitting" of water mixed with the steam. This is normal; the steamer is adjusting itself to perform at its optimum. |
3. |
Holding the cleaner at abnormal angles (i.e. pointing straight up or straight down) can interfere with water flow, resulting in slower or interrupted steam flow. This is normal. |
4. |
When filling with water for the first time, or refilling, a grinding noise may be heard, indicating the pump is priming itself. This is normal and will stop when ready. |
5. |
Release the power steam trigger to stop or spray steam. |
6. |
Occasionally, the ready indicator will light while you are steaming. This may result in a reduced steam flow until the heater reaches maximum temperature to produce steam continuously. |

DECALCIFICATION |
If the appliance begins to produce steam more slowly than usual, or if the steamer stops producing steam and then starts again, you may need to decalcify your steamer. Decalcification refers to removing the calcium deposits which form over time on the metal parts of the steamer. For best performance from your Lysol® Steam Cleaner by Conair®, decalcify the unit from time to time; the frequency depends upon the hardness of your tap water and how often you use the steamer.
To decalcify, use a solution of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water in the tank. Plug the unit into electrical outlet. Turn the unit on and run until half the amount has steamed. Turn the unit off, unplug from electrical outlet, and allow to sit for 30 minutes. Remove excess water from the tank by inverting the tank and pouring the water over sink. Repeat the above procedure as many times as necessary until a normal steam rate returns, usually 2 to 3 times. With each repeated cycle, use a fresh solution of vinegar and water. Run one cycle of fresh, cold water through the unit at the completion of decalcification, before using the unit again.
