HOW TO ASSEMBLE YOUR LYSOL® STEAM
CLEANING MOP

Your Lysol® Steam Cleaning Mop requires some assembly before use.

1. Insert extension pole into the base pole. Make sure to line up the pole notches with the keyway in the switch enclosure. Slide extension pole until it snaps together.

2. Insert the handle into the open end of the extension pole. Be sure to line up the notch in the extension pole with the keyway in the handle. Slide handle until it snaps together.

USING THE LYSOL® STEAM CLEANING MOP

Sweep or vacuum your hard floor surface before using the Lysol® Steam Mop.

1. Unwind and straighten the power cord, but do not plug the cord into the electrical outlet.

2. Lay out the cotton cloth on the floor.

3. Place the steam mop on the cotton cloth and affix the hook and loop fastener strips securing cloth to the mop head.

4. With one hand, hold down the mop head base. Note the tab on the front of the reservoir cover. Using the other hand, squeeze the tab and lift off the reservoir cover.

5. Now lift off the water tank cap. Your reservoir cover is also designed to be used as a fill cup. Fill reservoir cover with water (e.g., tap, spring, or distilled) to fill line.

CAUTION: Never add anything except water or you will cause damage to the heating element. Using any other liquid is dangerous unless you are decalcifying. See instructions on decalcifying.

6. Pour the water from the reservoir cover into the water tank to the MAX FILL line. Securely place the cap on the water tank.

CAUTION: Do not fill the water tank past the MAX FILL line. Overfilling will cause water to overflow during use.

7. With water tank cap in place, lift off the tank cap.

8. A fill cup is provided for the Lysol® All-Purpose Cleaner. Fill to MAX FILL line.

9. Now empty the Lysol® All-Purpose Cleaner from the fill cup into the tank.

CAUTION: Do not overfill the cleaner tank. Overfilling will cause Lysol® All-Purpose Cleaner to leak.

10. Fill cap can be snapped onto pole or fitted over Lysol® All-Purpose Cleaner bottle cap for storage.

11. To dispense the Lysol® All-Purpose Cleaner, press the top of the cleaner tank cap. The Lysol® All-Purpose Cleaner will dispense onto the cotton cloth.

12. Firmly snap the reservoir cover onto the steam mop head.

13. With switch in the off position, plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet. Turn switch to on position. Mop will begin to steam and will be ready to use within two to three minutes.

DECALCIFICATION

If the Lysol® Steam Cleaning Mop begins to produce steam more slowly than usual, or it stops producing steam and then starts again, you may need to decalcify it. Decalcification refers to removing the calcium deposits which form over time on the metal parts of the mop. For best performance, decalcify the unit from time to time; the frequency depends upon the hardness of your tap water and how often you use the steam mop. Do not place Lysol® Steam Cleaning Mop directly on floor during decalcification. Place mop on a shallow metal tray and be sure to remove cotton cleaning cloth.

To decalcify, use a solution of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water in the water tank. Plug the mop into an electrical outlet. Turn the mop on and run until half the amount has steamed. The tray will catch solution and any calcium buildup. Now, turn the mop off, unplug from electrical outlet, and allow to sit for 30 minutes. Remove excess water from the tank by inverting the tank and pouring the water over sink. Repeat the above procedure as many times as necessary until a normal steam rate returns, usually 2 to 3 times. With each repeated cycle, use a fresh solution of vinegar and water. Run one cycle of fresh, cold water through the unit at the completion of decalcification, before using the unit again. Please note: it is normal that not all water will drain from water tank. If desired, continue to operate the steam mop until all water has been used.
