Great Feel, Good Results
I've been trimming my hair and beard for the better part of a decade with an old Wahl hair clipper. It's not pretty, but it gets the job done. By contrast when I received my ConairMen Wood Handle Clipper I was blown away by the look and feel of the clipper. The wood handle and the gold accent bring a feel of luxury that one wouldn't expect in a clipper. The unit itself is surprisingly light and when using the clipper the motor feels powerful. The clipper attachments fit securely and felt great in my hair. My previous clipper's attachments could cause some pain during a trim, but the trimmer attachments on the ConairMen trimmer were smooth on my scalp and didn't cause any pain.
Of course as important as the feel of a trimmer can be, the results are always going to be the focus of any review and that's where this trimmer falters. My hair cutting experience took longer than expected as there were several areas that had to cover multiple times to ensure an even cut because the trimmer cuts better when going against my hair pattern at a certain angle. There are multiple areas in my hair and beard where the direction that my hair grows is inconsistent and unfortunately that inconsistency is felt while trimming. The end result was just as good as my other trimmer, but the increased time trimming also caused the blades to heat up consistently and when that occurred it became uncomfortable to edge my beard line as the back side of the trimmer became hot against my skin.
All things said this is an upgrade over my previous trimmer and will now become my primary trimmer, but I was hoping the trimmer's utility would match the superior look of the unit itself.

Looks nice, works well, wish it felt more durable.
So, I guess I had high hopes for this hair clipper. I knew from the beginning that it was probably not a real wood handle, but wood grain design, however, my impression is that it was more cheaply built than other clippers I have used, including other Conair clippers. My first impression when I received the product and took it out of the box, was this looks like it's going to be a high quality item. The packaging looks really nice and is high quality. I like the design of the packaging for sure. But as I continued to open it, the first thing I noticed is the case is a very thin plastic, which feels like it would crack or chip if I dropped it on a hard floor. The latch doesn't close if you just squeeze the box shut, you have to push your finger on the latch for it to lock shut. Which is fine, however, I want to say that I have bought Conair clippers in the past that came with a case and the case was much more durable. So, I'm comparing, but also subjectively judging the product as it is without comparison. So, on to the clippers themselves, the handle feels like a thin plastic that could crack or break if I accidentally drop it on the floor. I don't know if it would, but I'm saying the handle feels cheap. But it looks great! I love the wood grain design with the gold toned metal part! It looks amazing. I initially plugged it in to an extension cord just because that was the closest thing to me when I opened it and it didn't work. I was worried I got a defective item. But then I plugged it into a wall and it did work. So, I don't know how I feel about the power button. It's a push button with a spring mechanism that you just push in. I'm used to the kind you push left or right. It works just fine, I'm just not used to it. I'm happy with the lower noise level of the clippers. It's not as loud as any of the ones I've used in the past. It left me wondering how well it will cut. But then I tried it out and it cuts hair just fine and without pulling. They are nice clippers
